Venetian Port and Fortress

The harbour of one of the oldest Greek cities is a place full of history. It was here that the famous naval battle of Nafpaktos took place, in which the writer Cervantes took part, whose statue dominates the harbour. With the two towers “closing” the entrance, the lighthouse towering on the east side and the numerous boats adding soft colours to the visual terminus of the city’s historic fortress, the Venetian port of Nafpaktos is rightly a centre of attraction.
